ST. BERNARD CHURCH AND RECTORY - BURKETTSVILLE

St. Bernard Catholic Church, located in Burkettsville, Ohio, is in the southern most part of Mercer County. The parish extends well into Darke County. The church and the rectory are in Mercer County, but the cemetery is located across the street in Darke County.
St. Bernard's church building has an unusual architectural style for the Mercer County area. This is because it was built later than most. The building began in 1915 but was halted due to The beginning of World War I. Construction was resumed in 1922 and finished in 1924. It is a huge church that seats about 700 people. It is a romanesque style with twin domes, an open belfry, and elaborate round stone arches over the doors and windows. This brick is buff colored; it has a red tiled roof and beautiful stained glass windows.
Father _________, C.PP.S., currently serves as Pastor for St. Bernards. He also serves as Pastor of St. Paul in Sharpsburg and St. Wendelin. St. Bernard currently has approximately 230 families in the parish. Mass is held at _____ a.m. on Sunday morning.
